Like Father, Like Son: Guerrero Style
What was your first big success in stunts?
CHAD GUERRERO SR: Since a child, I would dream about becoming a "Hollywood Stuntman," so to find the first big success I've had with stunts is difficult, as I find every job special and a success in its own way. In fact, it wasn't until a few years back when I finally felt that "I made it." However, I don't believe you can ever fully "make it" in this business. There's always the hustle, and your next job is never guaranteed. Once one job ends, sometimes you don't know when the next one will begin — so as I mentioned, every job is a big success.
If I have to choose a moment in my career when I took a step back and said "how did this happen?" — it was when I was coordinating a show alongside the legendary stuntman/stunt coordinator Oakley Lehman. We hired my son Chad Jr. for the first episode of Mayans MC season 4 and put him into some difficult spots. Jr. performed at top level every time. To be on set as a stunt coordinator and to have the confidence to hire my son and witness his performance was a beautiful moment for me and a huge success! I would have never imagined I'd have a second generation under my name! A true blessing.
For the new generation of stunt performers, appreciate every job as if it's your first, and learn from it. You never know where that job might lead you too next!
