Why Is My StuntListing Profile Unlisted?

Why Is My StuntListing Profile Unlisted?

Stunt performers rely heavily on their online profiles to showcase their skills, experience and availability to hiring coordinators. Although anyone can create a profile on StuntListing.com, there are times when a performer’s profile gets unlisted - meaning it's no longer visible to coordinators or the public.

As the largest stunt directory in the world, StuntListing wants to attract the best hiring coordinators so profiles of performers are occasionally unlisted if they lack stunt experience or fail to demonstrate basic stunt skills and ongoing training in their reels.

StuntListing wants you to stand out and get hired by the best of the best, so when your skillset and ongoing training demonstrate you're ready for the high-stakes environment of being on set, your profile will get re-listed.

They know it's challenging when you're just starting out, so remember - your profile has not been deleted, only unlisted. This only means you will not appear in search results, but you can continue to add to your profile as you gain stunt experience.

What are the most common reasons why StuntListing profiles are unlisted?

• Uploading an acting resume and reel instead of a stunt resume and reel
• A stunt reel lacking basic stunt skills or well-rounded stunt training
• Lack of skill descriptions
• Incomplete profiles
• Inappropriate headshots
• Exaggerating about experience (we verify credits)

NOTE: Having a paid membership does NOT mean you're guaranteed to be listed

What are the minimum requirements for listed accounts?

• Stunt resume noting the stunt coordinators you've worked with, skills and training
• Stunt reel showing basic stunt skills (high falls, stair falls, car hits, fight choreography, wire work, etc.) along with any specialty stunt skills (fire burns, weapons training, martial arts, gymnastics etc.).
• IMDb link with stunt credits (usually 10 credits are needed for union performers in LA, NYC or ATL, exceptions can be made if a performer's reel demonstrates they are in the top 1% of their skillset or ongoing stunt training)
• Completed skill set section (with a rating and description for each skill)

Unsure why your profile was unlisted?

Here's an example of an unlisted profile for performer Sally Sunshine:

Why do you think Sally was unlisted?

Sally Sunshine's profile

Sally lives in the major hiring city of New York and claims to be an expert in a variety of stunt skills but uploaded an acting resume and an acting reel. She’s also missing a link to her IMDb page showing her stunt credits. After reviewing her profile, StuntListing has no proof she’s a working stunt performer or that she's training to be a stunt performer. They've also reached out to Sally several times since she created her profile but she hasn’t made any effort to update her profile, so Sally’s profile will remain unlisted.

Don’t be like (sad) Sally 😕.

My profile was unlisted!!! What should I do!?

• Don't give up!
• Update your profile so NOTHING is missing.
• Make sure you're presenting yourself as a stunt person or as a stunt actor. No matter what, stunts should be the focus.
• Not stress too much about a stunt reel (but still make that a priority!). If you don't have film/tv footage, having at least a training reel that shows "ongoing training" will suffice. That means taking more than one driving class or martial arts class (or any class) and updating your training reel with new footage as you improve.

Does this mean I can't do stunts?

No! StuntListing unlists people because of how they are presenting themselves, not because of skill. Your profile can still be viewed by coordinators, but they have to search for your name specifically. Getting unlisted only means that you don't appear in the main search page.

Why do you unlist people?

StuntListing is a site for coordinators to find professional stunt people and stunt people in training. They want you to make a GREAT impression and they want you to get HIRED. Coordinators can't hire you with an incomplete profile or without the proper training and experience.

How many people have you UNLISTED?

As of May 2023, around 581 people, which is around 10% of all registrations.
For new registrations, StuntListing initially unlists HALF.

Are you unlisted but your profile now has all of the aforementioned requirements?

Send an email to thestuntassistant@gmail.com and we’ll give your profile a second review.

Getting into stunts is HARD and StuntListing.com knows this. They want you to be seen in the best possible light and when you're missing parts of your profile or your skills aren't up to snuff yet, coordinators don't get to see you that way. Instead of getting angry at them for unlisting you, go jump off a building instead - or at least learn how to (and record it!).
