What Is A Stunt Resume?
As a stunt performer, your resume is your ticket to getting hired by top-notch coordinators, so it's essential you create a resume that accurately showcases your skills, experience, and abilities. Your resume should be a simple, easy-to-read document that you update each time you work.
What's in a Stunt Resume?
1. Start With The Basics: Begin your stunt resume with your name, contact information, location and union status (SAG-AFTRA, Non-Union)
2. Include Your Sizes: Stunt coordinators are often looking for performers with specific physical characteristics, such as height, weight, and build. Include these details at the top of your resume, along with any other physical attributes.
3. Include Your Work Experience: List your most recent and relevant work experience in the stunt industry. Include the production title, the type of stunts you performed, and the coordinator's name. Many coordinators want to know WHO you worked with, not just what you did.
4. Highlight Your Skills: List your areas of expertise and any specialized skills that you've developed over the years, such as martial arts, high falls, or car stunts. Make sure to also include any certifications or training programs you've completed.
Some performers even a headshot or link to their stunt reel - just make sure the important content noted above isn't overshadowed by other stuff.
How can I have a resume if I don't have any credits?
Great question - you can still include all your skills. A stunt performer should constantly be training and learning new skills. If you don't have a lot of credits, add training information. Include anything that helps the stunt coordinator know who you are and what your experience is.
What's the difference between an acting resume and a stunt resume?
The difference is the focus. On a stunt resume, there's no need to include TV/film credits if you didn't do any stunts. If you include these credits, some coordinators may remember you in a different way, perhaps as;
- An actor who wants to do stunts
- An actor who is physically talented
- A stunt actor
- A stuntman who can act
While there's nothing wrong with any of these labels, you just have to decide for yourself how you want to be perceived. StuntListing does not accept actors on the site unless they have proven they are in training and provide an accurate stunt focused resume.
