Virtual Hustle Format & Tips
So you signed up for a virtual hustle, now what? Here are some things to know when it comes to virtual hustles with StuntListing.
Each hustle consists of individual conversations with a coordinator followed by a short group Q&A. Conversations will last about 4 minutes and you get the choice of talking one-on-one or in small groups of 3-4 people. You'll receive an email each week prior to the hustle asking your preference. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, so it's a matter of personal preference but ultimately, it's the coordinators' decision what the format is.
A virtual hustle almost is the same as an on-set hustle, so bring up the same things you would in person. Virtual hustles offer the unique opportunity to connect with coordinators all over the country so don't forget to tell coordinators where you're based. Just because you may not be able to work local to them right now, doesn't mean they won't travel closer to you at some point.
What you should/could say
Other good things to bring up are (other than your primary location):
- Your stunt history/experience
- Who's hired you in the past?
- What have you been hired for?
- What new skills are you learning?
- What skills are you an expert in?
Make sure your StuntListing profile is up to date with your headshot, reel and resume along with your current skills, measurements and contact info. We share your StuntListing profile with each coordinator ahead of time so keep your profile updated. Your Zoom name should match your StuntListing profile name.
Huge Mistake, Pal
We want you to have an awesome hustle and get hired again and again by the coordinators. But here are the big mistakes we've seen:
- Being totally unprepared - "I don't know what to say" (see note above)
- Having a headshot on StuntListing that doesn't look like you
- Showing up late
- Having a poor internet connection (try "speedtest.net" before you start)
- Being in a noisy or distracting environment
The great thing about hustling virtually is that you're in control of your surroundings. If talking to coordinators gives you anxiety, choose (or create) a comfortable and relaxing space to sit in. Maybe throw some extra pillows behind you, light a candle or do some pre-hustle flips - do whatever you need to do to shine your best.
You've already signed up so don't second guess yourself now. If you're still a little nervous or have questions after making it this far, reach out to StuntListing@gmail.com for help.
