The History of StuntListing
StuntListing started as an idea by me as a new stunt performer. I was confused about all the different stunt directories and which one was worth paying for. I didn't have money to waste. Why did it cost money to have a profile when facebook had billions of profiles for free? I paid for some, I was never hired because of them.
Fast forward to April 15, 2015 on the set of the NBC show The Blacklist, where the rigger Brian Smyj pitches me the idea of a directory. Now is the time to actually build it. Working with a programmer we built a functional site in 5 months, with one member, me.
Fast forward to April 7, 2016 on the set of the talk show "The Chris Gethard Show," I'm dressed as Walt Whitman for a sketch where I'm supposed to perform acrobatic slam dunks. With me, also dressed like Walt Whitman, is Warren Hull. I tell Warren all my goals for StuntListing. He shows me a demo of a search engine that he built. We partner soon afterwards - Warren and Derric Stotts fully rebuild StuntListing starting in October 2016.
Version 2 launches on August 18, 2017. We make constant updates for years. There are thousands of members. Eventually, we realize that the site needs upgrades that require another complete rebuild.
July 24, 2019 - We hire the designer and begin work on Version 3.
January 17, 2023 - We launched Version 3 with 4000 users.
